Russell Library Delivers!

The library is more than just a building with amazing collections. It’s also a part of the community. Doorstep Delivery is a service for Middletown residents who are physically unable to come to the library. People with a medical condition or injury can now have books delivered to their homes. Volunteers will bring books to people who have signed up to receive items personally selected for them by a librarian.

Signing up for Doorstep Delivery is easy. The application form is available on Russell Library’s website. You’ll be asked to provide your contact information, preferred delivery days and times, and respond to a couple of questions. Once you’ve submitted the form, a librarian will reach out to talk about your reading preferences and match you with books from our collection. When the books are ready, a volunteer will reach out to confirm delivery to your home. When you’ve finished your books, simply contact the library to have a volunteer pick them up. You can request books through this service as many times as you’d like.

Doorstep Delivery is a great option for seniors with mobility issues, people recovering from surgery, or individuals with temporary or permanent disabilities. Receive up to five titles per delivery, including large print and books on CD. There are no overdue fines or sign-up fees for this service.

Your library card also gives you access to other resources that you can use at home, including:

  • E-books and e-audiobooks available from Libby and Hoopla
  • Music and movies available from Hoopla
  • Online databases, including Consumer Reports, Mango Languages, Universal Class, and Valueline
  • Online newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Hartford Courant.

You can also connect to the library’s blog, podcast, and online author talks without your library card.
