As Fall fades into the holidays, put these upcoming events on your calendar to keep toasty warm and in good company at your local library.

Polar Express Story Time – Saturday, 11/29, 10:30-11:30am

The Polar Express Story Time & Craft

Conductor Phil Pessina leads families on a magical train ride to the North Pole for a once-in-a-lifetime meeting with a special host. A train-themed craft will follow.

Winter Wonderland Drop-In Crafts – Saturday, 12/20, 10:30-11:30am

Make cute, fun, winter crafts like kids’ holiday cards and a 3-D snow person.

New Years at Noon – Saturday, 12/27 11:30am-12:30pm

Yes, it’s back! Families and friends can help us ring the New Year … when we’re actually open, and it’s not pitch dark outside with questionable drivers. Join us in the Hubbard Room for dancing, pizza, and community.

Monday Movie: Lilo & Stitch – Monday, 12/29 2:30-4:30pm

Need some low-key family fun on a cold winter afternoon before school starts up again? Watch the new live-action version of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch with us for free, and eat some popcorn.

Jim Sisti Magic – Saturday, 01/31 10:30-11:30am

Magician Jim Sisti

You might recognize magician Jim Sisti if you’ve ever visited Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury, CT. Or you may recognize him from one of his many gigs at local comedy clubs and restaurants, including previous gigs up and down Middletown’s own Main Street. If you haven’t seen him before, you can discover his charm, wit, and magical skill for free in the Hubbard Room on Saturday, January 31st. All ages.

The Environmental Film Festival – Saturday, 01/31, 2-4pm

Is one of your New Years’ resolutions to help the environment more? Learn about the real effects of pollution on the Great Lakes Region in this film screening. Presented as part of The Elements: An Annual Environmental Film Series, in partnership with Connecticut River Coastal Conservation District, Middletown Garden Club, The Rockfall Foundation, and Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts, Bailey College of the Environment, and College of Film and the Moving Image.

In between these special events, don’t forget our returning popular Saturday programs such as:

Yoga for Littles – 12/06, 01/03, 02/21 – 10:30am
Science Saturday – 12/13, 01/24, 02/14 – 10am & 11am
Chess Club – now every 2nd and 4th Saturday afternoon – 3-5pm
