Check Out Passports to Connecticut Libraries

Do you love the Connecticut Wine Trail Passport program, but wish there was one for book lovers? Do we have the passport for you! Passports to Connecticut Libraries is back and better than ever.

From April 1st through April 30th, the Russell Library will be participating in Passports to Connecticut Libraries. This is an event that happens every two years, so don’t miss your chance this year in 2024!

Participants in Passports to Connecticut Libraries could win one of four $200 Visa gift cards by visiting five or more participating libraries in Connecticut! Participants can pick up their passport from the Russell Library (or other participating libraries) beginning April 1st and must get their passport stamped from each library they visit. Two adults and two children will be eligible for winning.

Did I mention there will be prizes? I won’t give away what the Russell Library’s prizes are, so you’ll just have to stop by and see for yourselves come April!

You may be wondering why we do the Passports to Connecticut Libraries. In case you didn’t know, Sunday, April 7th through Saturday, April 13th is National Library Week 2024.

Days of note during that week are:
Monday, April 8: Right to Read Day is a National Day of Action in support of the right to read.
Tuesday, April 9: National Library Workers Day, a day for everyone to recognize the valuable contributions made by library workers.
Wednesday, April 10: National Library Outreach Day, a day dedicated to library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are.
Thursday, April 11: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to urge members of Congress to protect the freedom to read.

No matter what you need or where you are in life, your library and it’s workers are here to support you to the best of our ability. We are strive support our community however we can! Patron support means the world to us. This is our invitation to use your library card and support Connecticut’s local libraries. That’s right, you can use your library card at any library in Connecticut! Pretty cool, right?

The Library Passport Program also occurs during the week of spring break for many Connecticut residents, so if you were looking for something to do, this is a great option!

Russell Library looks forward to seeing you! You can pick up your passport and then drop off your completed passport at the Circulation Desk. If you end up being one of the four winners, you will be contacted.

We hope you’ll learn through Passport to Connecticut Libraries that having fun isn’t hard when you have a library card! More information and cool pictures of what other libraries are doing can be found on the Passports to Connecticut Libraries Facebook Page, which I will link here.
