Do cooler temperatures bring back memories of three-ring binders, new pens, and college-ruled notebooks? Take a moment to revisit your school days with Russell Library’s new History Hub, located in the Memory Box.
Our new digital repository includes images from the library’s collection of yearbooks from Middletown High School, Vinal Technical High School, Woodrow Wilson High School, Mercy High School, and Xavier High School. Revisit your 1980s perm, your parents’ groovy bell-bottoms, or a grandparent’s wool sweater vest.

The History Hub also brings together selections from Russell Library’s other local history collections, including:
- Middletown Press and Penny Press indices
- Local postcards
- Selected Common Council documents

The History Hub computer is located in the Memory Box on the library’s second floor. Because these digital collections are available in-house only, researchers can use the History Hub at the library by appointment during regular library hours.

New to the History Hub? Sign up for a Book-a-Librarian session, and a library staff member will show you how to search and use its collections. Once you know your way around, you can make an appointment to conduct research independently.
Researchers can save files to a USB drive, email them, or print copies for individual research and personal use. Printing costs are $.10 per page for black-and-white copies and $.50 per page for color. Patrons are responsible for determining whether additional permissions are required for publication, distribution, or other uses of the materials they print.

Whether you’re looking for a familiar face, researching a local family, or exploring Middletown’s past, the History Hub offers a new way to discover the history tucked away in Russell Library’s collections.
Consider this your hall pass to the past!
